Here's my take on "Romance 2" or "Viconia's Romance Theme" (tbh I've never had her join my party, albeit I've always saved her from the stake, hehe).

I cannot remember if this track is being played outside the romantic dialogues, but the neapolitan chords always give me a warm and fuzzy feeling! 😃

The base transcription was created by @RigorMortis999, available on gamesheetmusic.com - I added a middle section, repeating the tune and adapted the ending slightly.

when remembering Watcher's Keep the most fitting term that comes into my mind (as it does for the whole game) is "kafkaesque". Getting the impression that supernatural events form the world around yourself and unknown, alienating entities and spaces loom around the corner.

The whole game was pretty good at this imho, especially when loading new areas and suddenly being teleported into a completely different topology.

Funnily enough this short piece (again) ends in E minor - as did the Icewind Dale tracks I've covered so far 😄 Rather than staying in the beginning key of E flat minor we modulate up a minor second which gives the longing, mourning character something hopeful. I love it.

All the best,
Benedikt

"Lost Haven" seems to have sparked some interest, so here comes its partnered track "Shillings"!

Some of the accidental brass chords I could not manage to sound good on piano, therefore I enriched some chords until it sounded fun imho.

Yours sincelerly,
Benedikt

I've been in quite an ID2 mood lately. The melodic basis for "Skeleton of a Town" or "Arrival at the Docks" is so melancholic - I have always wanted to arrange it for piano.

I cannot come up with the third piece I've listened to for a transcription candidate, but counting "The Shaengarne" and "Skeleton of a Town" I've stumbled upon three ID2 pieces in the mode of e-minor. Seems like a recurring key within this OST!

Since the last video I've wrapped my hand more around my new webcam and its settings - the initial setup was more difficult than thought and with my current hardware 1080p is still hard to record. So I think I'll go with 720p and the additional 60fps for now, the fluidity is so nice = ) Let's see what else we can improve video-wise.

Have a nice listen to this video!

Yours sincerely,
Benediktm

I've come to know just recently that this and other tracks from the OST are derived from the works of Henry Purcell, especially his semi-opera "The Fairy Queen". This piece, for example, is very similar to the Hornpipe (a quick Scottish dance) at the end of the third act - just somewhat reharmonized and the middle part changed towards its end. That's why I do not have any sheet music, either, today. I just worked with the original score from IMSLP.

There is at least one other "The Fairy Queen"-inspired piece I heard of (Dance of the Haymakers) that also might be familiar to your ears. It seems Mr. Hoenig was in quite a Purcell-phase back then 😃

Have fun listening,
Benedikt
